MRS Logística is a railway load operator that manages, through federal concession, a network of 1,643 km extending over Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, with access to five ports in the region, including the Port of Itaguaí (RJ). The amount of products transported nearly quadrupled in volume since its foundation in 1996. With more than 160 million tons transported in 2015, it accounts for approximately one third of the railway activity on a national scale. Among the main segments attended are mineral commodities (iron ore, coal and coke), agricultural and steel industry products, basic materials (e.g., sand, cement and bauxite) and containerized loads in general such as industrialized goods and raw materials for industrial production.
