The Container Terminal at the Port of Sepetiba is situated in the Southwestern part of the Municipality of Itaguaí, 80 km from the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is on the North coast of the Sepetiba Bay, to the South of Madeira Island, with the following coordinates:

It enjoys a privileged location, linked to Brazil's most developed economic region, namely the Southeast, responsible for 70% of GNP.

The existing and planned access systems, by road and rail, permit the connection of the STSA Terminal to other States, and assure the possibility of attracting cargoes to/from the State of Rio de Janeiro, part of the State of Minas Gerais, the Paraíba valley and part of the Eastern region of Greater São Paulo.
