1) What do the initials ‘OEM' stand for?
Original Equipment for Manufacturers (Equipamento Original para Fabricantes). This expression is originally from North America, being employed to describe the automotive industrial chain immediately prior to the large assemblers. This means that producers in this sector (OEM) directly serve the automotive industry. CSN uses this abbreviation (OEM) to define the re-rollers (re-rolling) and bring together other industrial sectors in the same market unit (gas holders, cylinders, drums, electrical motors and agricultural implements).
2) What is a hermetic compressor?
Electro–electronic equipment used in the white line and refrigeration industry. They are the driving force behind refrigerators, freezers, air-conditioners and are responsible for cooling.
3) What are "agricultural implements"?
This is agricultural equipment with no traction, which is dragged or pushed to perform their specific application. The most important are seeding machines, clearing machines, earth leveling machines, cultivators, planting machines and planes.
4) What does the term "scale cavity" mean (as a result of non-conformity during technical evaluation)?
Scale cavity is a defect resulting from the pickling process, where there is a “pull-out” of oxides on the material's surface, generating imperfections. They are depressions distributed heterogeneously along the coil surface.
5) Does scale cavity cause any loss of the material's mechanical properties?
No. Scale cavity is only an aesthetic imperfection, not mechanical.
6) What is the difference between symmetric and asymmetric dimensional tolerances?
The range imposed by symmetric tolerance comprises the same variation in upper and lower ranges. Asymmetric tolerance considers the variation of only one of the ranges, Mean or High, when variation refers to the upper range and Mean to Low, when the variation is concerned to the lower band;
7) Does the darkening effect of spangle impair the performance of galvanized steel in any way?
No. Darkened spangle darkness only restricts the material's use in exposed applications, where it will not be painted.
