CSN's hot rolled products meet all the needs of the principal applications in the steel forming market. They are used especially in the automotive industry and for civil construction, auto parts, containers, re-rolling and agricultural equipment.
CSN's hot rolled products are available to the market with the following specifications:
General Purpose Steels Carbon-manganese steel with no added micro-alloying elements, assurance of good chemical composition, widely employed in civil & mechanical construction, automotive parts, furniture, piping, agricultural equipment amongst others.
Steels for re-rolling Low carbon steel, killed with aluminum, and assurance of good chemical composition and mechanical properties ideal for re-rolling.
Structural Quality Steels With assurance of good chemical composition and mechanical properties, with or without micro-alloying elements as required. Widely used in structural work where mechanical performance and good weldability are required, such as bridges, pylons, dumpsters/skips and mechanical structures.
Structural Quality Steels with good Formability With good chemical composition and mechanical properties assured, with or without micro-alloying elements as required. Widely used in cold-formed structural work, where the features of high mechanical resistance and good formability are required, in addition to good weldability. Mainly used for girders, chassis and automotive wheels.
High Resistance Structure Quality Steels Also with assurance of good chemical composition, much used in applications requiring toughness and good weldability. Used largely for civil & mechanical construction and agricultural equipment.
Corrosion-Resistant Structure-Quality Steels Widely employed in civil construction, with assurance of good chemical composition, toughness, good weldability, high resistance to atmospheric corrosion and high mechanical resistance. Within this product range, the weathering steels CSN-COR 420 and CSN-COR 500 have corrosion-resistance at least four times higher than conventional structural steels.
Pipe-Quality Steels Medium to high mechanical resistance weldable steels for oil, gas and other pipelines, in different diameters to suit the application. For instance, the large diameter pipes, normally used in the oil industry can be supplied ranging from API 5L-A class (for pipelines with lower internal pressures), to higher classes, for piping subjected to high pressures.
Stamping Quality Steels Main characteristic is high formability; hence widely used in the manufacturing of parts or components by stamping and drawing. With assurance of good chemical composition and mechanical properties, can be supplied in medium, deep and extra-deep stamping grades with minimum gauge of 1.80mm.
Gas container quality steel Also with assurance of good chemical composition and mechanical properties, with good stamping and welding characteristics and intended for the manufacturing of pressurized gas containers, such as for liquid petroleum gas/propane and air cylinders for pneumatic compressors.
