CSN Paraná is a steel rolling and coating plant situated in Araucária, within the Curitiba metropolitan area, in the state of Paraná.
The principal products at CSN Paraná are: CSN Galvalume (steel galvanized with a zinc/aluminum alloy), CSN pre-painted steel and steel galvanized with pure zinc.
Production commences with the pickling and cold rolling of coils, to attain the precise gauge for the client's needs. Processing is concluded in the Service Center, which shears the steel in sheets, blanks, bands and profiles. After rolling, the steel is given an oxide resistant metallic coating. This coating can be pure zinc (galvanized) or a zinc/aluminum alloy, which combines the attractive quality of aluminum with the high corrosive resistance of zinc. CSN Paraná is the only company licensed to produce Galvalume in Brazil.
CSN Paraná has a production capacity of 100 thousand tons/year of pre-painted steel, 230 thousand tons/year of galvanized steel (pure zinc or zinc/aluminum alloy), and 220 thousand tons/year of hot-pickled coils.
As with all CSN's activities, the environment is a major concern, and along with CSN Paraná, several commitments to environmental protection have been established with the Instituto Ambiental do Paraná (The Paraná State Environmental Institute). These agreements ensure that production processes have minimum environmental impact, modern equipment to control emissions and a complete plant solely for the treatment of effluent.
